A.W. Miller offers customer product support programs as part of our complete sales and application engineering-based services.

The applications department within A.W. Miller has several duties, broken down into different categories such as training, time studies, workholding recommendations, demos and turnkey solutions.

We provide training for the machinery we sell, both machinery programming and operator training. We also provide time estimates for customers, who are looking to buy machinery and want to know exactly how many machines they need to buy or if one machine will be enough to produce so many parts per year. The application department takes customer blueprints, drawings and models and generates an estimated time and recommendation on what machinery would be best suited for manufacturing customer parts.

Doing a turnkey project for a customer is taking that a step further.

The applications engineers spec out all the tooling and workholding needed for a job and get more in depth on engineering as far as processing. Turnkey is selling a machine to a customer that is ready to produce their part as soon as it hits their floor.

Included in this is setting up the machine at the A.W. Miller facility, doing a run-off before shipping the machine, then duplicating a run-off at their facility.

The applications department has been a service offered by A.W. Miller since the inception of CNC machines, however, the service has become very popular over the past five years as companies are cutting back on engineering staff and do not have in-house resources.
