Mercedes Textiles have been manufacturing fire hoses for over 25 years. Mercedes is not a machine shop. They use machine tools to manufacture the components that make up their products, which are always small productions runs.

Recently, they approached Dave Byrne with the AW Miller Montreal office with what they were looking for in a new vertical machining center.

Mercedes already has several machines in their shop, almost one of everything–but hadn’t purchased a new machine in several years. Also in the past they more or less purchased what was available to them. This time however they did some research and contacted several suppliers.

What they needed was capacity of course, but technology, precision and performance was also critical. Naturally, all this AND at the best price as well.

The feeds and speeds of the machine impressed Mercedes Textile, but the ease of use of the control and more specifically conversational programming clearly set us apart. Another one of the deciding factors was the Intelligent Machine functions. From a technological standpoint, and for the money no other company offered them the benefits that we have.

All in all, the customer was satisfied we had the best “Dollar for Dollar” machine available to them, giving them the technological advancements they were looking for…at a price they understood! The performance & reliability we were able to provide has enabled Mercedes Textile to replace 2 of their gaining/tired machines.
